Research and academia among top priorities for Princess Haya
The Dubai Healthcare City Authority (DHCA), under the directives of its Chairperson Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, today announced that it is currently finalizing a comprehensive action plan, highlighting a number of key initiatives, to re-position Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) as an internationally renowned center for healthcare excellence.
Princess Haya continues to work closely with her team to address previous shortfalls and re-align DHCC with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed's vision to establish a state-of-the-art centre for integrated medical services. All existing projects are under evaluation and discussions with a number of reputable medical and academic institutions are currently underway to ensure the project remains in line with key objectives and its strategic framework. Further discussions with DHCC partners are also taking place as part of the Authority's aim to move the project forward.
At the forefront of the plan is the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Academic Medical Center (MBRM AMC), the academic and research arm of Dubai Healthcare City and hub for DHCC's educational components. Research and academia, being a top priority for Princess Haya, has paved way to open dialogue in an effort to strategically draw attention to DHCA's multi-disciplinary approach as well as highlight the numerous programmes to soon be offered by the Center.
Princess Haya, who continues to report directly to HH Sheikh Mohammed on this project, has encouraged a collaborative relationship between DHCC and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and has since called for several meetings to further capitalize on this effort. Both entities are formally exchanging knowledge to streamline efforts concerning graduate medical education, continuing medical education programmes and regulatory processes to enhance the DHCC offering to better serve the healthcare community.
Additionally, the team at DHCA is now reviewing the various entities that sit under the Authority, including the Center for Healthcare Planning and Quality (CPQ), the independent regulator, and the MBRM AMC.
Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, CEO of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Academic Medical Center and spokesperson of DHCA said: "The formation of the Dubai Healthcare City Authority and the appointment of Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein ushers in a new era for Dubai Healthcare City. This is a time of significant change which will ultimately benefit our healthcare providers, patients and the community at large. We remain committed to realizing our vision to be the internationally recognized location of choice for quality healthcare and an integrated center of excellence for clinical and wellness services, medical education and research."
