New regulations, hospitals & partnerships announced at the second day of Arab Health
UAE Dubai: On the second day of the largest healthcare event in the Middle East, Arab Health Exhibition and Congress has witnessed several groundbreaking key announcements from across the healthcare industry as well as the launch of Arab Health’s first m+Health Conference discussing the role of remote care, monitoring, and technology in delivering healthcare services to the region.
With over 10 percent of all smartphone users in the region using health apps on their mobile devices, this is expected to 33 percent by 2015. Supported by du as the m+Health Conference exclusive knowledge partner, the conference is debating the innovative capabilities of mobile health services and includes approaches to sustainable and clinical business models, as well as government and regulatory visions for the future in this region.
During the event, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has announced its six new health facility regulations and three new guidelines under its strategic plan for 2015 as it works to improve the quality of its health facilities and services for people in the Emirates. The new regulations and guidelines aim to harmonise regulatory standards across Dubai and ensure the safety of healthcare services provided and will cover hospital, outpatient, day surgical centres, diagnostic service, clinic laboratory and home healthcare.
“This year Arab Health has seen groundbreaking news unveiled and many partnerships formed, and we look forward to seeing the results and impact on the healthcare industry and the benefits these new initiatives bring to the healthcare patients and community,” said Simon Page, Managing Director – Life Sciences, Informa Exhibitions, organisers of Arab Health.
His Excellency Qadhi Saeed al Murooshid, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority said, “Arab Health is now the second largest healthcare congress in the world and this year we expect to see further growth in the number of delegates and exhibitors. At the DHA, we support and encourage such healthcare congresses as they bring together experts from across the world and provide a platform to exchange state-of-the-art information.
“This year, the DHA launched a number of initiatives at the Arab Health. We announced the future implementation of our regulatory policies for the health sector in the Emirate and we signed strategic MoUs including one with Etisalat and our Dubai Blood Donation Centre. The three year contract will ensure that both parties support the Blood Donation Centre to get donations through sustained awareness campaigns and Etisalat will also encourage staff members to take part in donating blood,” he continued.
On the day of the inauguration of Arab Health, Al Murooshid accompanied His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and President of the Dubai Health Authority during his tour of the congress.
In addition, Lifeline Hospital Group of Abu Dhabi signed a MoU at Arab Health for the launch of a new 94-bed hospital, Umm Hurair, in Dubai and a MoU was signed between the Dubai Health Authority, University of Toronto’s Peter A. Silvermen Centre and AstraZeneca Gulf.
The Arab Health Exhibition and Congress is the largest healthcare event in the region and runs until Thursday 26th January 2012.
