Arab Health Ebook 2011

In the GCC, the healthcare workforce is very diverse in terms of culture and training backgrounds, which induce differences when communicating to patients. Recent studies show that despite the needs for comprehensive medical services in the region, there is still a gap in communication and fundamental clinical skills of healthcare practitioners. A minimum standard of competency and expertise should be created to ensure quality and patient safety. This strain is further challenged as a large portion of the healthcare workforce is transient in the region, creating a high turnover rate.

In this month’s issue of the Arab Health e-book we speak to Dr Sarper H. Tanli, Executive Director of Methodist International, Europe-Middle East-Africa, about the role of simulation training in educating the region’s healthcare workforce.

I hope you enjoy reading this issue of Arab Health e-book, and feel free to comment on any of the articles.

Combining functionality and aesthetics the Aurum is strong and durable enough for all bariatric care situations whilst providing a comfortable environment for improved patient care and tranquillity.

Key features of the Aurum such as width adjustment, integrated weighing and removable/adjustable safety rails provide a safe environment within which to improve the moving and handling of larger patients and ensure ease of care and safer working conditions for nursing staff and carers,

Key features of the Aurum bed:

  • Safe working load of 413kg / 910lbs
Able to provide a comfortable environment for range of bariatric patients
  • Individual width adjustable mattress platform to 36” and 48”.
Individual section adjustments ensure flexibility of care and efficient accommodation of different bariatric body shapes whilst allowing nursing staff close access to the patient thus reducing any potential for musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Integral weighing scales
Provide the ability to accurately monitor a patient’s weight, track weight trends and facilitate fluid management in situ, improving nursing staff efficiency and reducing unnecessary patient transfers/movements.
  • Removable / adjustable safety rails
Ensure easy access to the patient and allow for safe patient transfers to and from the bed.
  • Low platform height of 15”
Facilitates safe patient egress and mobility, thus improving rehabilitation and ultimately the potential of reducing a patient’s length of stay.
  • Supervisors Control Panel
Allows nursing staff to efficiently adjust the bed in all its positions. Quick access to emergency positioning and security lockout functions maintain the security and safety of the patient.
  • Patient Handset Control
