HYPERTENSION CONFERENCE

29 - 30 January 2018

 12.0 CME Points

Overview

Hypertension as well as the associated risk factors, are now abundant in the UAE and its neighbouring Gulf states - there is no doubt of the impact and burden this is placing public health and the healthcare system. The consequences of hypertension, such as cardiovascular complications, chronic kidney disease and stroke are on the rise, this is, in part because hypertension is often neither correctly diagnosed nor appropriately treated.

Therefore, we are pleased to announce the Hypertension Conference, a new addition to the Arab Health Congress 2018 - a one-stop forum for the latest updated clinical and scientific data in this field. The conference will bring together experts in hypertension and highlight its relationship to cardiac and kidney disease, stroke, obesity, and diabetes. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with cross-disciplinary researchers and clinicians, both local and international. Our outstanding scientific program will include several interactive sessions specifically designed to highlight innovative research and provide practical how-to sessions on the management of hypertension.

What are the main topics covered in this event?

  • Updates on current hypertension guidelines
  • Controversies in hypertension: what should the blood pressure goal be?
  • Anti-hypertensive medications: current recommendations and choices
  • Evaluation and management of resistant hypertension
  • Hypertensive urgency and emergency
  • Case presentations: Blood pressure management (in kidney disease, stroke, pregnancy, diabetes)
  • Hypertension in the elderly and in pregnancy
  • Case discussions: difficult hypertension cases – management challenges

What is new for 2018?

  • New conference Chair
  • Session are focused on 'how-to' i.e. the practical aspects of management rather than a lot of focus on pathophysiological mechanisms and theory

Benefits of attending

  • Formulate an efficient and effective assessment and monitoring plan of a patient's condition as it relates to hypertension, diabetes, cardiac and kidney disease & stroke
  • Utilize current guidelines in the diagnosis and management of hypertension to develop a treatment plan
  • Develop individualized interventions and treatment strategies for patients presenting with hypertension and other conditions that will lead to the reduction of risk factors and improved long term outcomes
