Dr Wiberg- Itzel defended her thesis and received her medical degree from Karolinska Institute in Stockholm in June 2007. Dr Wiberg-Itzel did her Post-Doc year at Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, Uppsala University. Dr Wiberg-Itzel became Associate Professor at the Karolinska Institute in 2014.
Dr Wiberg-Itzel is a Fellow of the Swedish society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (SFOG), and currently a member of the board at Department of Clinical Science and Education, Karolinska Institute, South Hospital, Stockholm.
Dr Wiberg-Itzel has 25 years experience of practical obstetrics, and is Senior Consultant at the delivery ward of South Hospital, Stockholm.
Dr Wiberg-Itzel has several publications in well-known magazines to her credit and her main subject of interests is the uterine lactate production and its association to arrested labours, and labour dystocia. Dr Wiberg-Itzel was the principle investigator of the big multicenter study called “the dysfunctional labor study´, founded by “Bill and Melinda Gates foundation”, where amniotic fluid and labor data was collected from 3000 deliveries.
