Dr Nakao is the Head of Heart Centre of Excellence, Al Jalila Children’s Hospital. He completed his cardiothoracic surgical training in Singapore and was subsequently awarded the Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS-CTh) in 2010. He has also been a Board Certified Cardiovascular Surgeon (Japan) since 2010. Following a few years of working experience as a junior paediatric cardiothoracic surgery consultant, he continued his paediatric cardiothoracic surgical training in Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London. After returning from the UK, Dr Nakao then practised as a consultant in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore.

He has a keen interest in academic research, particularly that involving flow dynamics and 3D printing. Organising and chairing the international educational course for cardiac morphology together with University College London, he also actively gives lectures and presentations in both international conferences and universities alike.

Dr Nakao currently focuses on developing new standards of treatment for congenital heart diseases not only for children in Dubai, but also for those in all Gulf countries.
