Summary

In this interactive discussion we will explore how technology can help to protect health care practitioners working in every part of the medication chain from medication errors, and how it can integrate with wider risk management strategies to support our most valuable asset, our frontline practitioners. We will review the role of technology solutions in reducing the risk of medication error from medication shortages, inventory loss, dispensing error, compounding and reconstitution errors and issues, and from administration harm events. How technology has the potential to instill confidence in practitioners in their day-to-day work will be evaluated against the risk of burnout and staff loss resulting from practicing in unsafe environments.
