Dr Hatem has approximately 38 years' experience in radiology and radio diagnosis. He has produced 32 publications and has received numerous awards and appreciations, including a certificate of appreciation for his distinguished contribution at the scientific conference of Cancer and Breast Screening. He is the general secretary of the Board of Radiological Society of the UAE and is a regular speaker at conferences and workshops.

From 2000 to present, Dr Hatem is the chairman of the Organising Committee of the Total Radiology Conference of Arab Health.
