Introduction
Doctor Vida is the smallest portable PCR device for diagnostics of COVID-19, lactose intolerance and other diseases, already in the market, CE-IVD, fullY developed and ISO 13485 manufactured by STAB VIDA. It is unique and all-in-one testing cycle: kit for sample collection, reagents for isothermal DNA/RNA amplification and detection, pocket-sized device and an APP that delivers the final patient's diagnostics report, in less than 1 hour.
Doctor Vida is a highly innovative portable, handheld device for isothermal nucleic acid amplification of genetic biomarkers. Operated from any smartphone in a clinical or research setting, but also at home, at the office, etc.
Doctor Vida is under clinical trials for point of care of EGFR testing of NSCLC, as a companion diagnostic, Legionella, HIV, HPV, Zika (viral load), gluten intolerance and veterinarian applications.
For example the occurrence of clinical important mutations in the EGFR gene in Lung cancer patients varies in terms of race; it is around 10% in Caucasians and can reach 30% in Asians. Our Doctor Vida Pocket PCR targets in less than 1 h, full point of care, to faster identify the treatment of lung adenocarcinomas. Doctor Vida is now in all continents and recently started business with a distributor for Asia, selling already to Indonesia and for other countries within the region.
Potential impact
STAB VIDA a Portuguese biotech with its patented smallest genetic laboratory of the world, a pocket PCR device and a phone´s app, wants to find worldwide distributors and licensees. We want to contact and negotiate with a pharmacy's chain, clinics and chain of veterinary testing centers with many spots all over the Arab countries in MENA, namely UAE, SA, Kuwait, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, etc, in order to penetrate our point of care technology of PCR testing (Covid-19 and other infectious diseases, EGFR, lactose and other food intolerances and also veterinarian applications) in a decentralized lab setting, communicating with the client's smartphones automatically.
The sales price of each Pocket PCR will be 330 $ and the sales price of each PCR test will be 15-80 $ depending on the disease.
The point-of-care diagnostics market is witnessing significant growth, owing to the increasing usage of POC tests that can rapidly diagnose diseases.
As an example, the lung cancer segment is expected to hold a significant share in the market. Companion diagnostic tests (CDXs) are considered mandatory in decision-making for treatment with targeted therapies in lung cancer.
Moreover, the food allergen testing market in the MENA is expected to grow from US$ 55.45 million in 2018 to US$ 98.28 million by 2027; it is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 6.6% during 2019–2027.
As for Legionella, travel-associated Legionnaires’ disease (TALD) cases with a history of travel to Dubai, United Arab Emirates were reported to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control from 14 European Union countries. Early testing can improve in managing future outbreaks of TALD.
We are seeking for more licensees of the technology, in exchange for an upfront fee and generated royalties from the sales. We are also seeking an IP agent in Asia that combines expertise with Asia regulatory filling and approval, and all necessary registrations to ensure freedom to operate.
