The new Evita and Babylog family: efficient and safe patient ventilation

Graphic operating concept simplifies therapy management

  • New menu structure, glass touchscreen, and gesture control
  • Proven ventilation technology for safe therapy and quick weaning
  • Effective infection prevention support

Dubai – Evita V600 and V800, and Babylog VN600 and VN800 are Dräger's new devices for the intensive care ventilation of adults to premature babies. For the intensive care and neonatal ventilation devices, Dräger has developed an operating concept that makes orientation even easier and provides clearer user guidance. The user is intuitively guided through the individual menus with larger icons, important functions at the top menu level, and a clear, color-coordinated screen design. The lower number of colors for the screen elements and the reduced use of signal colors enable clear, smooth navigation. The bright screen background also minimizes disruptive reflections of ambient light. Clearly structured device checks help safely prepare for the next patient. “The simplified operation of the device supports user safety, contributes to shorter training times, and therefore makes patient care even better and safer”, Andreas Neumann, Senior Product Manager at Dräger, concisely summarizes the benefits of the screen concept for the new Evita and Babylog family.

Proven ventilation technology protects patients

Over one hundred years of Dräger experience in ventilation flowed into the technology. It is the basis for efficient therapy options, which can simultaneously improve patient safety – just like the automated weaning. The early support of spontaneous breathing allows the patient to regain mobility more quickly. In addition, the Evita V600 and V800 intensive care ventilators can be connected to the PulmoVista 500 electrical impedance tomograph (EIT). The device allows the physician to monitor the distribution of ventilation in the lungs in real time at the patient’s bedside with up to 50 images a second. The EIT device therefore enables individual and lung protective ventilation of patients.

Infection prevention requirements considered

To maintain the infection management chain in the hospital, medical devices must support the requirements of hygienically sensitive areas in hospitals. As a result, the new Dräger ventilators not only have a rounded design with few edges and overhangs, they also have surfaces that can be effectively disinfected. The glass touchscreen on the devices, as an almost seamless screen, also supports the daily hygiene routine at the intensive care workstation.

The new Evita and Babylog family takes Dräger a step closer to its goal of providing added value for clinical personnel and patients while simultaneously optimizing costs in the hospital.

The Evita V600, Evita V800, Babylog VN600, Babylog VN800 ventilators and the PulmoVista 500 are manufactured by Drägerwerk AG & Co. KGaA.
