SALT LAKE CITY – The state of Utah, known as the fastest growing life science community in the United States, has selected eight companies to exhibit at the Arab Health trade show in Dubai from June 21-24. The companies will present some of Utah’s most innovative healthcare products and biotechnologies, many of which will be shared worldwide for the first time.
Innovators congregate in Utah for many reasons. The state is ranked sixth in the United States for medical devices, fifth for diagnostics and is a rising force in bio-pharma. What’s more, Utah’s unique ability to combine 310 days of sun a year with the greatest snow on earth is the ultimate holdfast.
“We have attracted world-class scientists, researchers, and engineers to Utah for the last 65 years,” shared Katelin Roberts, interim Director of BioHive and General Partner for MedMountain Ventures. “Utahans have changed millions of lives through better patient outcomes with life-saving catheters, advancements in surgical imaging, and now we are leveraging new technologies for novel drug discovery and therapeutics.”
The following companies were selected to represent the state of Utah at Arab Health:
“We are excited about participating in Arab Health as we have recently received our CE Mark for Europe,” said Rick White, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Turner Imaging Systems. “The CE Mark in addition to our FDA Clearance gives us access to much of the world with our Smart-C mini-c arm medical device. We look forward to meeting with many people from around the world at this prestigious meeting in Dubai.”
Utah and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have a strong trade relationship. The UAE is the largest market for U.S. product exports in the Middle East with the healthcare sector as one of the six pillars of its national agenda. The Utah booth and companies participation is supported by the State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) Grant. The federal initiative assists eligible small businesses increase exports. STEP is funded in part through a Grant with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and is administered by World Trade Center Utah.
