Sustainability at Arab Health

We know how sustainability is increasingly important

Running Arab Health gives us lots of opportunities to improve our impact environmentally, socially and economically in our region.  We want to make the event more responsible and play a role in helping the market improve its own sustainability through connecting people with the networks and knowledge they want to help solve the big challenges in the healthcare sector.

As part of our commitment, we are focusing on:

ECONOMICAL

ENVIRONMENTAL

SOCIAL

To achieve this, we are committed to:

1. Help our markets through inspiring sustainable development

We focus on:

  • Using our content to support the sustainability of the market the event serves
  • Inspiring our suppliers, exhibitors and other stakeholders to deliver a sustainable event
  • Developing market relevant partnerships
  • Partnerships with local entities and associations to elevate the event’s content offerings and features, including a CME-accredited conference programme and Transformation Zone where visionaries present their latest discoveries to transform the future of healthcare
  • A platform for start-ups to pitch their transformative innovations at an annual pitch-off
  • Working together with the Dubai Health Authority, to stage a blood donation drive at Arab Health
  • Partnering with companies like Gojo and Purell to provide hand sanitisers at multiple touchpoints to reduce the need for customers to bring their single-use bottles
  • Introducing an exhibitor rewards programme where sustainable initiatives taken on by our exhibitors will be awarded

2. Run the event in an increasingly environmentally responsible manner

Our successes:

  • As part of our continuous commitment to our event sustainability Arab Health has switched the event electricity usage to being from renewable sources, thereby significantly reducing the event carbon footprints
  • We saved an estimated 972 tons of CO2e, which is a significant proportion of the events carbon impact
  • Our promotion of public transport succeeded in reducing congestion caused by the event
  • Gained certification from the Dubai Municipality to ensure the lanyards collected from the event were recycled, preventing them being sent to landfill
  • Reduced the quantity of print across marketing collateral
  • By introducing the use of recycled paper for some of the printed items that we could not yet move to digital we reduced its carbon footprint by a further 18%
  • We successfully reduced the quantity of left-over delegates and speaker lunches
  • We successfully brought in a new stand building system which enabled us to build our feature areas without any structural waste for the first time

3. Run the event in a socially responsible manner

Our successes:

  • Successfully organised a blood donation drive at the event in partnership with the Dubai Health Authority and Informa staff were encouraged to contribute
  • A ‘dispensable collection area’ hosted by Emirates Red Crescent was organised for exhibitors to donate medical disposables for countries in need, helping both reduce our waste
  • Introduced a wellness room and F&B for all Informa staff onsite we helped ensure both the physical and mental wellbeing of our own team
  • Intorduced registration terminals for people with determination helped to facilitate accessibility and equality
  • Our provision of tickets for 8 medical students to volunteer onsite at the Arab Health CME conferences helped accessibility within the industry

A positive impact towards building a sustainable future

Reducing Waste

Our event carpet will be recycled after the event. Focus on digital solutions to replace printed items, such as paperless registration, digital badges, and digital signage around the venue. We also ask Exhibitors to follow our Better Stands programme which ensures they build a stand from sustainable materials that they can re-use. We're also providing water refills stations throughout the event as well as incentivising customers to bring re-usable coffee cups to the cafes on-site.

Renewable Electricity

Arab Health is now powered by renewable electricity, helping us in our journey to Net Zero.

As a part of our continued commitment to the sustainability of Arab Health, we have switched to 100% renewable electricity for our event. This makes our electricity usage carbon neutral and significantly reduces the carbon footprint of our event, preventing the creation of 972 tons of CO2.
